All lessons with Silver Key Flute Studio are online for your convenience. These online private lessons will take place over Google Meet. If you are unfamiliar with Google Meet, please see the instructions below. Make sure you have a reliable internet connection, a working camera, and a working microphone.
Instructions for Using Google Meet
Join the Lesson
On a Laptop or Desktop: You do not need to download anything. Simply open Google Chrome or Safari and click the lesson link sent to your email.
On a Tablet or Smartphone: Download the free Google Meet App from the App Store ahead of time. Click your email lesson link to open the app automatically.
2. Crucial Audio Setting for Flutes (Do Not Skip!)
Google Meet has a smart feature that filters out background noise. However, it will mistake the high pitch of your flute for noise and completely muffle your sound! You must turn this setting off:
Once inside the meeting, click the Three Dots (More Options) at the bottom toolbar.
Click the Settings gear icon.
Click on the Audio tab.
Find Noise Cancellation and toggle it OFF.
3. Camera & Room Setup
Turn off visual filters: Please avoid using background blurring or artificial video filters, as they can lag your video stream.
Frame your posture: Position your camera so your teacher can see your face, your hands on the keys, and your upper body posture.
